"The themes revolve around a sense total hopelessness and seeing things how they actually are. You dwell on it and go deeper as you make more remarks supporting this situation. But then you finally reach the bottom. While there you're too beaten to go up, but instead just go forward until an uphill starts. It's going to be a battle, but to even find such a thing is a sign of hope. This is then wrapped around the current political climate and anxiety surrounding climate change.

I guess you could sum it up with the latin saying "Dum Spiro Spero" which means "While I breathe, there's hope." While we are alive and have collective control over something and the ability to adapt, we can make a change. It will try to drag us down but seeing things like they are is not synonymous to getting drag down.

The soundscape of Ainoa is very desolate, ascetic even. That's what it feels like to me when you're in the middle of an existential crisis. Low end is lurking about in the background and this numb horn-like sound looping. Makes me think about a sad joke that keeps on repeating in your mind. Sad joke of not doing anything even though the possibility is there and the other option is comparable to a deathwish.

"To me, Ainoa was like a record of different spaces. They ended up being sort of story-like, like vignettes in content but musically I was trying to create a space. The titular song to me was a swamp area lit by a dim red light, cold after a warm day which makes it suddenly feel very cold and like things are swirling to a set position, which is always where-ever you are."
